Stayed in Edinburgh for weekend for mates stag doo travelling the short flight from our native ulster. Drank all day from one pub to another when we soon realised that almost everywhere and everything came to a close a 1am! Then after talking to some locals we were informed that there were only 2 remaining venues that opened a bit later but they assured us our night would end at 3am. Unbelievable! Our choice was simple 1-Espionage or 2-Lava&Ignite, as we were currently in Burke n Haires strip club (which also closed at 1am and was the size of my living room) we opted for the geographical choice of Lava&Ignite. After paying the ?5 entry fee we found ourselves surrounded by 14-18 year olds so the 21+ policy on the flyer was obviously a missleading statement. The place itself was quite large with a cocktail bar, r&b chill out room and the main dance hall itself. 3 bars in all, offering quick and friendly service. The toilets were small and covered in vomit an indicatator of the young revellers not knowing their limits unlike us 25-40 year old seasoned professionals. In the main hall white gloves and glow sticks were out in force however the music was mostly house and occasional rap so again perhaps this shows immaturity, this time musical/clubbing. The only highlite was that the large ape like creature that dominated the room ie Big Richie the 6'10" killing machine of a bouncer was actually a really nice guy and suggested we should try Espionage the following night. Unlike the skinny Polish doorman who switched off the arcade machine even though i just stuck 5 quid in it. I quickly informed him that "In my country you would be dead by now". But it was time to go anyhow at 2:55am and so we attacked the streets in search of fat laden food to elevate our alcohol abused blood sugar levels to quell the hunger, however once again we were disappointed and a mars bar and diet coke from the hotel vending machine had to suffice. Edinburgh-DUNG-WILL NEVER RETURN.

Lava

We booked into here for a mate's birthday party and it was terrible. Got there around 12 and it wasn't particularly busy. Spent the next hour being growled at by 15 year old boys protecting their 15 year old girlfriends. Highlight of the night was the fight in the dancefloor that went on for about 5 minutes. We all decided to leave and go to a club down the road where we had a great night - only go to Lava if you absolutely, positively have nowhere else to go!

Great place so long as you avoid the idiot bouncers.
