Lenny Henry's Favourite Hotel Comes To Livingston
Published 9th May 2009 by Vivien Devlin
Premier Inn, Livingston-Bathgate
You might be familiar with the rather amusing TV advertisement for Premier Inn hotels featuring comedian Lenny Henry, sitting in the bath, accompanied by his wee friend, a yellow duck. At dinner, Lenny orders a slice of bread for his little furry friend.
With over 500 hotels, UK’s largest brand of hotels are described as premier, quality, 4 star standard but with a low budget price. The only aspect about the hotel which is small says Lenny, is the bill! According to media reports in December 2008, these adverts starring the comedian boosted bookings, as the hotel chain sales jumped 8.5 per cent in the past year.
A brand new 74 bedroom Premier Inn Livingston (Bathgate) has just been launched, located off the M8 (junction 3A). Equidistant between Edinburgh and Glasgow (25 and 35 minutes respectively), this is ideal for business travellers across the central belt and also leisure visitors touring between both cities. West Lothian is now firmly on the map in recent weeks following the global musical phenomenon of local singing star, Susan Boyle.
Over forty people from the local community and Scottish businesses attended the opening this week (6 May) with a champagne reception. VisitScotland’s chief executive Philip Riddle together with Mike Clarke, the hotel’s general manager cut the ribbon, marking the latest addition to the Premier Inn portfolio.
100 Premier Inn balloons were released into the air, half of them containing a prize (including free hotel nights and dinners for two at the Toby Carvery restaurant). Those lucky enough to find a Premier Inn balloon should call the Premier Inn Livingston (Bathgate) to claim their prize.
Premier Inn offers a full, ‘All You Can Eat’ breakfast or continental style, a Costa Coffee house and the Toby Carvery restaurant for lunch and dinner. For business meetings, there’s a dedicated conference room (£99 per day, with wi-fi facilities) which can accommodate 20 and 30 delegates.
Bedroom design is fresh, modern and practical for today’s traveller with work desk/dressing table, power shower, sofa, TV, internet access, tea and coffee tray, quality duvet/ pillows and comfortable beds. So confident is the Premier Inn quality brand, that they offer a Good Night Guarantee. They will give you your money back if you don't enjoy a good night's sleep!.
Families are especially welcome: two children under 16 stay free (with breakfast) when sharing a family room featuring sofa beds and cots for babies and toddlers. Also adapted rooms for guests with disabilities. Room rate tariff is from £63 per night Monday to Thursday and from £55 Friday to Sunday.
