Gypsy Arts Festival 2008

Gypsy Arts Festival 2008
Published 14th Aug 2008 by Stefan

Gypsy Arts Festivals are a celebration of Gypsy and Traveller culture through the Arts. No race on earth has inspired more tales, fables and dreams than the Gypsies and Travellers. No race on earth has endured so many threats to its rich culture and heritage and yet miraculously survives to tell its own story through its music, art, film, theatre, dance and literature. Gypsy Arts Festivals cross generations and integrate communities.

The upcoming Gypsy Arts Festivals in Scotland and the South East of England have been funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund to raise the awareness and celebrate the Culture and Heritage of the local, national and international Roma/Gypsy and Traveller community.

The Festivals would not be possible without the invaluable support and advice of local Gypsy Traveller communities and their families.

The Festival is celebrated on the 25th til 31st of August 2008, Edinburgh city centre.
