Goldilocks at The Kings Theatre
Published 20th Nov 2007 by Editor
The King's Theatre, Edinburgh announces a star cast, including many new faces, for this year's thrilling panto – Goldilocks and the Three Bears. With dazzling effects, fairytale magic, side-splitting comedy routines, live music and of course a happy ending, this spectacular pantomime has something for everyone. This year's Goldilocks and the Three Bears is a circus-themed extravaganza full of thrills and spills, featuring trapeze acts, clowns and the fabulous Ganbats from The Mongolian State Circus.
Join Scotland's greatest panto dame Allan Stewart in the role of Gertie – Queen of the Circus as she struggles against the wicked Vladimir Heinkel played by Grant Stott and his villainous wife Countess Volenska played by the gorgeous Jo Freer, as they plot to ruin the circus and capture the Three Bears!
Allan Stewart is regarded as a ‘Superb mimic and lovable dame' – The Guardian, whilst Grant Stott had gained a reputation for being ‘Attractively Bad' – Review Gate. Jo Freer adores being wicked and starred as one of the ugly sisters in last year's King's pantomime Cinderella. Goldilocks is played by the beautiful Claire Dargo, who last starred in Mother Goose at The King's.
No pantomime would be complete without a deliciously handsome young man, and this year we are thrilled to announce that the star of BAFTA award-winning Children's BBC series Raven, James Mackenzie, has found time in his busy schedule to appear in this year's show. James is delighted to be in the panto and can't wait to star along side Allan, Grant and the rest of the cast.
Every circus has a leading clown and we are pleased to introduce fellow Scot and world-class circus performer Tweedy the Clown, a great entertainer and original showman who is starring in his own show at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, entitled Lost Property. Tweedy has received rave reviews for his hilarious clowning skills and circus tricks.
Tweedy and his sidekick Alexis are Goldilocks' most trusted friends. But which one will win Goldilocks' heart and can they save the circus, find the bears and scupper Heinkel and Volenska wicked plans?
This fantastic circus panto will be a visual treat. Be amazed by the flying artistes, be dazzled by acts of daring-do and witness in awe and wonder as magic and true love conquer all. Edinburgh's own Thomas Caine will amaze you with his juggling, stilt walking and uni-cycling skills and marvel at Hula-Hoop and high wire artiste Stephanie King.
Paul Elliott has produced, written and directed the last five record breaking pantomimes at The King's Theatre, Edinburgh. Paul Elliott is thrilled that this year's panto is Goldilocks and the Three Bears and adds ‘Goldilocks has always been my favorite panto, the story is Cinderella within a circus where Buttons gets the girl!'
John Stalker, General Manager for Festival City Theatre's Trust adds ‘Every year we promise to deliver a show that is bigger and better and more spectacular than the previous year – is going to knock your socks off!'
